It was March 17, 2021. This Irishman from Providence, RI was not expecting much when he ordered corned beef and cabbage from an Italian and Greek restaurant - Primo Family Restaurant in the Belle View Shopping Center, Alexandria, VA - especially when it was carry out.
Got home and opened it. The bottom line is that it was simply the best corned beef dinner my wife and I ever had! Ever!
No fat whatsoever on the brisket, perfectly sliced, firm but tender. The cabbage - cut just right and not overcooked. The potato - a red potato halved and cooked to perfection. And homemade white horseradish sauce on the side.
A simple meal in its most perfect state.

This is the first time we have eaten here. We were visiting and was looking for a place to eat. We found primo and it was wonderful. It has Greek and Italian food and some Americans items. The food was tasty and big portions. We got the hummus and pita. I’m not a big hummus fan. But this was the best hummus I had. Both of our meal was very taste and filling. We will return to this restaurant next time we are in town.

Primo's is a fantastic place to enjoy truly authentic delicious Greek and Italian food while being surrounded by community. I've absolutely loved everything I've ever eaten at Primo's and every experience there over the past 25 years! Amazing!

This is an all around family restaurant with a Greek influence. For one of our meals for lunch, my husband and I got the Cold Plate which was a platter full of lettuce, tomatoes, black olives, dolmades, block of feta and 1 large meatball on top. This was more than enough for the two of us. I also got their Saturday chicken soup which was to die for... Their specialty pizzas were so tasty I wanted to try them all. I especially liked the primo special, but they all looked delicious! Everything I saw on the tables were large portions and smelled yummy. We will be back next time we visit Alexandria.

As an Alexandria resident for 18 years we have our favorite places there. Primos is one of them. Nothing fancy, but great pizza [ they will do thin crust if you ask], nice Italian and Greek specialities. Just an overall great place to eat without blowing your budget. Same some room for the custard, it is super good

Just finished up dinner at Primo this evening with a group of over 100 8th grade students and chaperones. Food was served family style which included salad, pasta, pizza, chicken strips & fries, along with cookies. Everything was served hot and very tasty and staff was very well organized. Most impressive part of the visit was the fact that a sever storm hit and the owner, Jimmy, allowed us to stay until the storm passed. He’s a super guy who greets everyone that walks in and shows his sincere gratitude for you coming in to eat. Give Primo a try, Jimmy will be the first to “thank you” for stopping by!

I recently went to this restaurant with my son's school group. There were over 80 middle school kids and chaperones. This restaurant did an excellent job of serving our group of hungry kids very quickly. Food was delicious, service was excellent, and it was obvious that this was family run. Excellent hospitality.
